Compare the Plans that's the Right Fit for Your Budget

The device subscription term options in Malaysia on Cinch are 3, 6, 12 and 18 months, though not every device offers all four. Longer terms cut the monthly fee: a Galaxy A57 5G is RM314/month on 3 months vs RM168 on 18. Pick 12 months if you upgrade yearly.

Picking the wrong subscription term costs you money either way. Go too short and you pay extra every month for flexibility you never use. Go too long and you're stuck with a phone you've outgrown, or you pay a fee to leave early.

Cinch is a device subscription service in Malaysia. You pay a monthly fee for a phone or tablet, accidental damage protection is included, and at the end of the term you decide what happens to the device. This guide uses live Cinch Malaysia prices from 3 October 2026 to show how the device subscription term changes what you pay, and how to choose.

What Device Subscription Terms does Cinch Offer?

Cinch offers four device subscription terms: 3, 6, 12 and 18 months. Not every device has all four. Check the product page before you plan around a particular term.

For example, the Galaxy A57 5G, Pixel 11 and Galaxy S25 come in all four lengths. The iPhone 18 Pro tops out at 18 months, at RM275/month for 256GB. The Galaxy S26 Ultra also comes at 18 months (RM264/month for 256GB).

How much Cheaper is an 18-Month Plan than a 3-Month Plan?

On the devices that offer both, the 18-month plan costs roughly half as much per month as the 3-month plan. That's a much bigger gap than most people expect.

The Galaxy A57 5G (256GB) costs RM314/month for 3 months, RM252 on 6, RM204 on 12 and RM168 on 18. Going from 3 to 18 months saves about 46% a month. The Pixel 11 (256GB) runs RM325, RM279, RM232 and RM198, which is a similar 45% saving.

The iPhone 18 Pro follows the same curve across its four terms: RM505/month on 3 months, RM395 on 6, RM275 on 12, and RM259 on 18 months. The 18-month rate is about 50% lower than the 3-month one.

The monthly fee is only half the story, though. Over the full term you still pay more in total on a longer plan: 18 months of the A57 comes to RM3,024, against RM2,448 for 12 months. A longer term lowers the monthly fee. It doesn't make the device cheaper overall.

When Does a 3 or 6-Month Subscription Make Sense?

A short term is worth its higher monthly price when you know you'll need the device for less than a year.

Bridge periods. If you're waiting for a warranty repair, a shipment or a new job's company phone, 3gk months of a Redmi Note 15 5G at RM98/month fills the gap without a long commitment.

Short contracts and trials. Freelancers and contract workers on a 3 or 6-month project can match the term to the job. A 6-month term is also a sensible trial if you're unsure about a new platform.

The cost is real. 6 months of an A57 at RM252 works out to RM1,512, and you hand the phone back at the end. Only choose a short term if you're sure you won't want the device longer.

Is 12 Months or 18 Months Better for a Phone?

For most people, 12 months is the better fit for a phone, and 18 months only wins if you're sure you'll keep it the whole time. Phone makers refresh their flagships about once a year, so a 12-month term ends just as the next model arrives.

How much the extra six months saves varies a lot by device. On the Galaxy A57 5G it's RM36/month (RM204 vs RM168). On the Galaxy S25 it's RM34 (RM187 vs RM153).

When the gap is that small, the shorter commitment is usually worth more than the discount. Leaving early isn't free. After the 24-hour return window, Cinch charges an early termination fee of RM350 to end a plan or switch models.

What Happens when Your Cinch Term Ends?

When your term ends you choose what happens next: upgrade to a newer model, extend your plan on the same device, buy it, or return it.

You don't have to wait for the end to buy, either. Cinch lets you buy your device any time after the first month. The buyout price shows in your account and generally falls the longer you've been subscribed. So a 12-month term doesn't stop you from keeping a phone you've grown attached to.

Is Subscribing More Expensive than Buying Outright?

Over a long ownership period, yes. Apple Malaysia sells the iPhone 18 Pro 256GB from RM5,499, while 18 months on Cinch at RM259 comes to RM4,662. If you plan to keep one phone for three years or more and never break it, buying outright usually works out cheaper.

A subscription makes sense when you upgrade often and value the 90% of accidental damage coverage included, not when you want the lowest lifetime cost.
