iPhone Duo Malaysia 2026: Price, Release Date & Rent vs Buy

iPhone Duo pricing starts at RM9,499 (256GB), on sale from 23 October 2026, or RM395.79 a month over 24 months at 0% via Apple. Cinch doesn't list it yet, so renting means an iPhone 18 Pro or Galaxy Z Fold7. Buy if you need the Duo now.

Apple's first foldable is no longer a rumour with a guessed price. The iPhone Duo has a confirmed ringgit price, a confirmed on-sale date, and a spec sheet that changes some long-held iPhone habits.

That matters if you were waiting on the iPhone Duo launch to decide your next phone. Pre-orders opened on 16 October, and the 23 October date means you now have to choose: buy a first-generation foldable at full price, or keep the money working on something you can rent today. Cinch, a device subscription service in Malaysia, rents phones on 3 to 18 month plans with damage cover, so this guide covers both routes honestly.

When can I Buy an iPhone Duo in Malaysia?

The iPhone Duo has been launched for the public since Friday, 23 October 2026. Apple unveiled the Duo on 9 September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, which went on sale earlier. The Duo ships with iOS 27.1, according to Apple's announcement as reported by MacRumors. Malaysian resellers are also taking orders, but Apple's own store is the reference for price and date.

iPhone Duo Malaysia Price: How Much Is It?

The iPhone Duo starts at RM9,499 for 256GB, RM10,499 (512GB), RM12,499 (1TB) and RM15,499 (2TB), in Star White or Night Sky.

Apple's 0% installment spreads the 256GB model over 24 months at RM395.79/month. It needs a Visa or Mastercard consumer credit card from a participating bank and a minimum spend of RM2,000, and the bank must approve it.

For scale, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at RM5,499 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max at RM5,999 on Apple. The cheapest Duo costs RM3,500 more than the Pro Max.

iPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro: What Do You Actually Get?

You get a much bigger screen and give up Face ID. Both phones run Apple's A20 Pro chip, so the Duo isn't faster.

According to Apple's Duo spec sheet, the Duo has a 7.6-inch folding inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. It unlocks with Touch ID in the side button, weighs 254g, and measures 11.3mm closed and 5.2mm open. The rear camera is a 48MP Dual Fusion system with a 12MP front camera on the outside.

The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, Face ID, a 48MP Pro Fusion camera system, an 18MP front camera, and weighs 211g. Both are rated IP68. The useful test: if you can't name a task you'd do differently on a 7.6-inch screen, such as reading documents or running two apps side by side, the Pro gives you the same chip for RM4,000 less.

Can You Rent the iPhone Duo in Malaysia?

Not from Cinch today. The Duo isn't in the Cinch catalogue as of 21 October 2026, and there's no confirmed date for when it will be.

What you can rent now is the phone most Duo buyers are comparing it with. The iPhone 18 Pro costs RM505/month on a 3-month plan, RM395 on 6 months, RM275 on 12 months and RM259 on 18 months. The iPhone 18 Pro Max costs RM550, RM430, RM300 and RM282 on the same terms.

If it's the foldable form you want, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is in stock at RM436/month over 12 months or RM352 over 18.

Is it Better to Buy the iPhone Duo or Rent a Phone while You Wait?

If you want the Duo itself, buy it. Renting can't get you one today, and Apple's 0% plan costs RM395.79/month with the phone yours at the end.

Renting makes more sense if you're unsure about a first-generation foldable. A 6-month iPhone 18 Pro plan totals RM2,370, after which you can upgrade, extend or return it. That gives you time to read long-term reviews of the Duo's hinge and crease before committing RM9,499.

Two trade-offs to know. Renting a Fold8 for 18 months totals RM8,262, more than the RM7,799 retail value on Cinch's own listing, so buying wins if you plan to keep a foldable that long. And switching models mid-term on Cinch costs an RM350 early termination fee, so match your plan length to when you expect to move.

What does Damage Cover mean for a Foldable?

It's the main reason to rent rather than buy expensive hardware. Cinch's Damage Coverage pays 90% of repair costs from accidental damage, so you pay 10%.

The more a phone costs to repair, the more that 90% is worth. Theft, loss and willful damage aren't covered; in those cases you pay the device's retail price. If you buy a Duo outright, you'll need to arrange your own cover.

  5. Is renting more expensive than buying? Over a long term it can be. For example, an 18-month Galaxy Z Fold7 rental totals RM8,262, above its RM7,799 listed retail value. Renting costs more for long ownership but includes 90% damage cover and lets you upgrade.

Try a Flagship before You Commit

If the Duo is the phone you want, Apple's store is the place to buy it. If you'd rather not commit RM9,499 to a first-generation foldable, Cinch lets you rent an iPhone 18 Pro or Galaxy Z Fold8 on a 3, 6, 12 or 18 month plan with 90% damage cover, then upgrade, extend or return it at the end.
